what we do

We create a mindful technology for life on the planet.

ECONWARD’s patented technology is one-of a kind technology in the world. This system consists of a semicontinuous thermal-hydrolysis process that homogenizes, degrades and hygienises the organic waste to produce a biomass with multiple certified uses in the market, including renewable energy generation.

R&D: at the core of ECONWARD’s activity.

At ECONWARD we annually invest more than 80% of our resources in the research and development of innovative solutions for the treatment and recycling of waste and the generation of clean energy.

Our continuous involvement in research projects with the best partners, collaborators and technology centers allow us to be at the forefront of technological innovation.

All of our processes are certified by external bodies.

Since the beginning we have allocated a great part of our resources to R&D, which has allowed us to optimise and continously improve our technology over the past years.

Today, we understand our project as a process of continous transformation, which is why we continue to invest more than 80% of our resources in R&D.

We are currently achieving excellent results from our constant testing process, which have exceeded our expectations in numerous parameters and has also allowed us to pursue other R&D and business lines.

Econward waste-to-value system

BENEFITS AND IMPACT

BENEFITS AND IMPACT
ECONWARD provides a highly profitable decarbonization solution attractive to both the private and public sectors. Waste management operators can extract the full energy potential from the organics in their incoming waste, extending the useful life of sites while eliminating harmful fugitive emissions forever. With this solution municipalities can maximize organics diversion and secure compliance with existing and upcoming regulation such as California SB1383.

waste-to-value system
what we do

Our unique, patented technology was designed for organic waste treatment. When the waste is received in a treatment plant, our Biomak® equipment applies a thermal hydrolysis process using pressure and temperature to change the waste physical and chemical properties. Thus, the Biomak® homogenises, hygienises and degrades the organic material delivering an efficient energy and material recycling to produce both a high-quality biogas or a class B compost.
Due to physical degradation, the particle size is reduced, providing an optimal separation of non-organic materials.

By chemical degradation, the organic waste is transformed into a new material with multiple potential uses. It is a semicontinuous process, operating in 20-minute sequences, capable of treating 8 tonnes of waste per hour. Under specific and preset conditions, the process seeks to hygienise and homogenise the organic matter.

Nuestra Maquinaria

Integration model

BIOMAK® transforms biowaste into a new material: a homogenised, hygienised and bio-thermally stabilised biomass with multiple applications and uses in the market.

Applications

Aplicaciones

The added value of our technology lies in the fact that we allow an efficient operation from heterogenous and pathogen-contaminated waste streams. Our process creates a direct bridge between waste management and renewable energy generation. We offer the best solution to transform a complex waste stream in a valuable resource.

In addition, we help the private & public sectors and the society to reach decarbonisation goals: implementation of our technology in a waste treatment plant prevents the emission of 10,000 tons of greenhouse gases (GHG), equivalent to the reduction in GHG that 2,700 hectares of forest would achieve.

Making the difference

Integrating the BIOMAK® in a waste treatment plant entails substantial benefits:

The integration of BIOMAK® in treatment plants allows obtaining significant benefits on multiple fronts:

About the equipment, the technology, and the treatment

  • Higher treatment capacity in a very reduced space

  • Scalable and modular technology

  • Lower energy consumption as a result of a semicontinuous process

  • Greater recovery of more than 90% organics and and more efficiency in other material separation present in the organic fraction

About the primary product and its uses

  • We obtain a stabilised, degraded, homogenised and hygienised biomass, ideal to enhance anaerobic digestion processes. The resultant biomass has more than 98% organic content. We significantly improve the performance of a biogas plant, at least doubling the biogas production. We improve the quality of the biogas obtained, with a 67% methane content

About our contribution to attaining environmental goals

  • Avoid organic material ending up in landfills, responsible for GHG emissions. Contribute to the economy decarbonization and energy transition

About the equipment, the technology, and the treatment

  • Scalable technology, which takes up little space and offers easy assembly.

  • It allows to improve the efficiency of conventional treatment plants, optimizes energy and water consumption and reduces the deposit in landfills.

  • The process is more stable and makes better use of organic material, more than 90%.

  • It achieves large emission reductions: equivalent to 3,400 Ha of forest/year.

About the primary product and its uses

  • Stabilized and sanitized biomass, more manageable and treatable, minimizes disposal in landfills and allows dealing with organics that arrive mixed.

  • Sanitized biomass has a high organic content (more than 98%) and offers great physical and chemical versatility that allows energy uses.

  • The resulting biogas increases in quantity – it doubles that obtained in biomethanization processes – and in quality: it has a high methane content (65%).

About our contribution to attaining environmental goals

  • Decarbonization, fight against climate change and reduction of emissions.

  • Landfill reduction.

  • Increased recycling rates.

  • Promotion of renewables in the energy mix.
